your money fly out the window as you are planning your wedding? You are not alone. Many couples are in the same boat you are as they struggle to have all the elements of their dream wedding while still adhering to a budget. This is a difficult year for many people with the crazy economy, the high prices of gas and food, and the struggle many are having finding work.

If you are diligently sticking to your wedding budget – I have one word for you – congratulations! You are one of the smart couples that will have an absolutely gorgeous wedding day and no one will know that you actually cut some corners to save your hard earned money for the future.

Wedding favors are an important part of any wedding as you really do want to give your guests a small token of your appreciation for attending your wedding. But, do you have to spend a fortune for a nice wedding favor? The answer is no. There are some great wedding favors in the $1 to $2 range and some even under $1 that are beautiful and in no way will you be embarrassed to give the favor to your guests.

Let’s start in the $1 to $2 range. If you have chosen the Calla Lily as your wedding flower, there is a great Calla Lily candle that would make a wonderful wedding favor. Other great candle wedding favors include the very cute Apple Of My Eye candle favor, the Perfect Pair matching pear candle favors, the adorable Whisked Away Heart whisk favor, and an assortment of coaster wedding favors for beach, fall, spring, summer, and winter weddings. Your guests would absolutely love to receive any of these wedding favors as they are quite nice, very practical and all under $2 each.

If you need to stay in the under $1 per favor range, never fear as you have just as many fantastic favor options to choose from. There are photo frames in every color imaginable from black to silver to gold with just as many designs to choose from such as scallop edge, smooth edge, beaded edge and even a Cinderella carriage photo frame. These photo frames will do double duty for you as they first are used as place card holders at your tables. You then tell your guests to pick them up and take them home with them and to place a special photo in it for their enjoyment.

If you do not want to use place cards at your weddings, you may want to consider book marks or key chains. These party favors are available in an array of themes such as seashell for summer or beach weddings, poker shapes for Vegas themed which can also be used as wedding favors for the male guests of your wedding or seasonal bookmarks such as fall leaf or winter snowflakes.

Looking for a more eco-friendly party favor? Choose wildflower seed packets. These adorable favors are also great for bridal showers too.

Choose a wedding favor that you love from the first time you found it. This way, you know your guests will love it too.

A Glimpse of Wedding Favors History

By tgon1563 On September 29, 2008 No Comments
wedding favors
Wedding favors has been widely known for its purpose during a wedding. Each year, manufacturers create different varieties of styles and designs for favors to incorporate in today’s wedding fashion trend. But have you ever wondered where favors came from? I bet couples don’t give too much attention to this question, but anyway let’s just review the history of wedding favors.

Since ancient time, wedding favors have been a part of wedding tradition and etiquette and widely practiced worldwide. From different range of cultures, giving favors during weddings symbolizes good luck from the wedded couple. The practice is believed to have started when a couple gave away biscuits, fruits and nuts for their guests to eat while the ceremony is ongoing. This tradition was then adapted by early European upper society who are wealthy enough to give elegant gifts to their guests such as silks, scarves and incense.

Traditional wedding favors before are somewhat similar with wedding favors today. Keepsakes before come in many forms, shapes and sizes as well. Popular keepsakes they give are figurines, magnets, bottle openers and more. However, mostly the choices are with accordance to the couple’s desire. Some couples want simple gifts to give like candles or elaborate ones like small gift boxes. Gift boxes are called bomboniere by Italians while the French called it bonbonniere, these boxes are usually filled with confectionery delicacies like sugar cubes which are highly valued and quite expensive that time. These gift boxes were not made from ordinary boxes alone, rather they are mostly made from porcelain, crystals or covered with precious stones. Giving bonbonniere wasn’t strictly for wedding celebration alone. They can also be given during other occasions like birthdays, baptism and the like.

Why are wedding favors popular? Because these can make special gifts to give for family members, guests and wedding participants like bridesmaids, groomsmen and more. These may be distributed by the bride and groom during the rehearsal dinner or before the wedding, with sentiment of thanks for assistance they have provided to make the celebration a memorable day.

The tradition of providing gifts for guests is a gesture of gratitude for sharing the time where the couple will start to have their new life together. Today, the gifts given to wedding guests are popularly known as wedding favors and are very basic accessories in any type of wedding. A choice of wedding favors may vary according to the culture, wealth, theme and desires of the couple. Selection of today’s trend for wedding favors are abundant, from a simple place card holder to expensive vintage wine favors. And not to forget one of the hottest and favorite wedding trend nowadays, the personalized wedding favors.

Like the wedding favors given to all guests, there are immeasurable options for special gifts. Typically they may be made specialized to a higher dollar amount and may be engraved with names or monogram of wedding attendees at the party. For formal or traditional weddings, there are personalized wedding favors like personalized coaster wedding favors, candle wedding favors, wine favors etc., while non-formal gifts are ideal for unusual weddings like beach themed or destination weddings.

Some Tips for Making your Wedding Favor Ideas Come to Life

By tgon1563 On September 29, 2008 No Comments
wedding favors
If you’re a bride with a creative side, chances are that you have some wedding favor ideasfor your reception already in mind. Maybe you imagine something chocolate and decadent, maybe you have a practical side that you want to express. In any event, if you haven’t already made a decision or a purchase, then how do you go about making those wedding favor ideas of your own come to life? What are some tips and hints, and what are some things to avoid?

Wedding Favor Ideas Should be Unique

There’s nothing wrong with being inspired by a wedding you saw of your favorite celebrity, or a photo in a bride’s magazine, or even something at a wedding you’ve attended yourself. But the bottom line is that your wedding favor ideas need to tailored to your own personality, to the personality of your groom, and the two of you as a couple.

For example, you may have seen a very decadent gift of chocolate truffles being given away at a celebrity’s wedding. Depending on the brand of chocolates, chances are they paid thousands and thousands of dollars for those gifts. Unless you have that kind of money to spend on favors, you may want to scale yours back a bit.

In a case like that, some good wedding favor ideas might be smaller boxes of more inexpensive chocolates. Brands such as Russell Stover or Fannie Mae are very good but are a bit more affordable. The boxes can be wrapped with wrapping paper you get from a store for a festive look. Tie them with some thick silver or gold ribbon and they are now an elegant take-home gift for your guests.

Additionally, you can still tailor your wedding favor ideas to include customized candy bar wrappers for chocolate bars. This trend in wedding favors is one that has really caught fire in recent years, since some of the larger companies offer so many different designs that you’re sure to find one that expresses your personality. For example, if you search on The Knot or Wed Alert, you can find several different types of wrappers being offered. One of the internet’s leading candy bar wrapper companies, www.FavorsAndWraps.com, has over 150 different designs that feature flowers, beach scenes, autumn scenes, art deco designs, fun and whimsical designs, along with some traditional and very elegant ones as well. Whether your wedding favor ideas include something traditional, something fun, or something that celebrates nature, you’re sure to find something just right for you.

Your wedding favor ideas should also incorporate some of the same elements from your wedding, such as the choice of flowers or the colors you’ve picked. For example, if your bouquet is all roses, then of course you would want to use roses in your wedding favor ideas. It would make no sense to wrap your chocolate boxes or choose custom candy wrappers that have daisies or irises as part of their design. Additionally, if your bridesmaids’ dresses and other colors in your wedding are soft pastels, these colors should be reflected in your wedding favors. If you’re a bride that has opted for stronger, bolder colors, then remember this same point. Don’t use traditional wraps with silver and gold for your favors if your bridesmaids are all wearing black or cherry red.

Making Your Own

You may opt to assemble or create your own favors if you can’t find just what you’re looking for, or have a strong creative side and want to do this type of thing for yourself and your guests. In this case, making your wedding favor ideas come to life will take a bit more planning and consideration. It’s very easy to underestimate the time, effort, and money involved in creating your own favors.

For example, if you have the idea of getting foil-wrapped chocolates and placing them in a tulle bag to wrap with ribbon, this can be a very beautiful item. However, have you figured how many guests you’re expecting, and how much wrapped chocolate you will need for that number? How much ribbon will you need? How much time will this take you, and where will you store the chocolate before the reception?

This isn’t meant to scare you off from going through with your own wedding favor ideas, as this can be a great way to add personality and style to your reception. Additionally, there is no end to your options for making these items uniquely you. In the case of tulle bags filled with chocolate, you can skip the ribbon and use strands of crystal beads to tie them for a more elegant touch. Or if you want to express your fun side, choose an oversized Hershey’s Kiss instead. The possibilities are endless.

What to Avoid With Your Own Wedding Favor Ideas

There are some things that should be avoided when considering your wedding favor ideas. For one thing, it’s tempting to simply get whatever you want without any thought or considering of your own budget. It’s easy to think that you can spend what you want since your wedding is going to happen only once (hopefully) in your life, but starting out your new life deeply in debt can only add tension to your relationship down the road.

Additionally, you want favors that are going to match your overall theme and feel of your wedding. Don’t indulge in wedding favors that are fun and funky if your wedding is traditional and elegant. You can find things that are very affordable and still look beautiful at the same time.

And lastly, make sure that your wedding favor ideas are practical and can be accomplished. You may think up some extravagant gift idea that requires hours and hours of preparation and assembly, and assume that your bridesmaids and friends will be willing to pitch in and help, but remember that they may already be somewhat stressed themselves with all the other responsibilities they have for your wedding.

If you keep all these thoughts in mind, you’re sure to find a creative, fun, and elegant way to bring to life your own wedding favor ideas.

Just How Much Should you Spend on Wedding Favors?

By tgon1563 On September 28, 2008 No Comments
wedding favors
Most brides today wish they could go out and buy anything and everything they want for their wedding and reception, but unfortunately most know that they need to stay within a certain budget. Because of that, many brides wonder the appropriate amount to spend on every item and accessory, including their wedding favors. How much is too much, and how little is too little? Having a budget is a good idea and even commendable, but no one wants to come across as cheap or tacky. So what is a good amount to spend on your wedding favors, and how can you get “the most bang for your buck,” so to speak?

Obviously the answer as to an appropriate amount for wedding favors will be different for every bride and every wedding. The one thing to keep in mind regarding your budget and your particular wedding is that your favors should be appropriate for the occasion itself; a more upscale wedding should have more elegant wedding favors, whereas a more casual wedding would offer more affordable and perhaps fun favors. If you have a wedding that includes a designer gown that everyone knows cost you thousands, held in a very old cathedral with a reception at a fancy country club, your guests may very well be offended or insulted by cheap plastic trinkets. On the other hand, fancy silver candlesticks may seem somewhat out of place at your barefoot beach wedding.

The size of your invitation list will also affect the budget for your wedding favors. Obviously the more people you have, the more those favors will cost you. If you absolute must have hundreds at your wedding, you may need to be a bit more modest when it comes to your wedding favors.

Your best bet for deciding the appropriate amount for wedding favors is to start with your budget overall, and once you’ve figured your dress, the catering, deejay, hall rental, and everything else, see how much that leaves you for favors. If the budget is somewhat skimpy at this point, you might want to see where you can make adjustments. Talk to your caterer about some options such as serving one less side dish, or see if you can cut back a little on decorations.

In any event, always plan on spending at least one dollar per favor; while you may not actually purchase wedding favors that are a dollar each, if you multiply that by how many guests you have, you then have you budget for favors overall. Two hundred guests equal two hundred dollars for favors; you can probably make something at home for that much. Assembling bags of chocolates or personalized candy bar wrappers that you wrap yourself are both good choices.

And if you have the budget for it, you might even consider gift bags with an assortment of wedding favors. Each favor might be somewhat modest, but if you wrap them individually in beautiful wrapping paper and then nestle them in tissue paper in the gift bag, your guest will feel like they’re getting a handful of gifts to take home with them.

But whatever your budget for wedding favors, make sure they reflect the fact that you put some time and effort into choosing them as a way of expressing your appreciation to your guests for participating in your special day.

Some wedding favors are homemade, but most brides buy their favors from professionals. The most important aspect of the wedding favors is that it shows that you care. With favors you let people know that their presence is important and appreciated.

There are many different kind of wedding favors. Here are some of the most important categories.

Personalization adds that special personal touch so many brides and grooms seek. The most important personalized wedding favors are personalized chocolate bars. The custom wrapped chocolates enable to the bride and groom to have their names and date printed on the wrapper. Certainly, almost any wedding favor can be personalized but personalized candy is the most important of all.

Flower seeds are becoming more and more popular wedding favors. There are too many creative options to present flower seeds as favors to mention, but printed flower seed bags are among the most popular. Are You Sick and Tired of the Same Old Wedding Favors?

By tgon1563 On September 26, 2008 No Comments
wedding favors
How many times have you gone online to shop for wedding favors and have noticed that every site seems to be selling the same exact items?  What gives?

Online retailers are usually reselling items from a drop shipper, meaning a company that manufacturers and ships all the items for them.  This is very convenient for someone that sells online as it means they don’t need to actually make up the wedding favors, warehouse thousands of them, and do any actual packing and shipping.  There are only a few major drop shippers when it comes to wedding favors, so you understand why so many online retailers wind up selling the same items.

However, understanding what’s going on behind the scenes with online retailers of wedding favors probably doesn’t help you out much when you’re shopping.  Just because those websites are all getting their products from the same place doesn’t mean that you’re happy to have the same items as everyone else!  So what to do?

If you want unique and personal wedding favors then it’s time to think outside the box, as they say.  Purchasing favors that you know other people have purchased is perfectly fine but to make them unique to you, dress them up a bit.  Get some wrapping paper that fits the theme or tone of your wedding and wrap them individually, tying them with huge ribbon or a big bow.  If you are having a more casual wedding, you could get helium balloons on ribbon and tie that around each of your wedding favors for a fun and festive touch.  You can also print out a small personal message to your guests and roll them up and slide them under the ribbon of your wedding favors for a great personal touch.

Remember that there are many other options for wedding favors than you might expect.  While items like candles and small tins or bags of candy are popular choices, you can use some creativity when choosing items for your wedding.  Check your local stationery store for some nice note cards that match the theme of your wedding.  Visit a nursery to get some tiny potted plants.  You can find small vases or clay pots virtually anywhere, all of which are very affordable.  Small wooden boxes you purchase from the craft supply store make for great wedding favors that anyone can use as added storage on a desk or dresser.

Don’t rule out personalized candy bar wrappers as wedding favors.  There are literally hundreds of designs available and typically you can find something that matches the theme or tone of your wedding, and of course they’re usually personalized for free.  A nice chocolate bar is something that just about everyone loves, so of course you can’t go wrong with these as wedding favors!

Putting some mental energy into your choice of favors is not a chore, but rather it’s a fun and enjoyable part of planning your wedding.  And remember that your wedding favors are your way of thanking your guests for being there and for sharing in your special day, so that thought and effort is an expression of your gratitude but will also help you to make a decision in finding favors that really are personal and unique to you!

Love My Wedding Favors

By tgon1563 On September 24, 2008 No Comments
wedding favors
My site will discuss exclusive party favors, supplies, bridal shower favors, accessories and personalized wedding decorations that create lasting memories of your special event. I will also have specials on wedding favors plus sections on limosines, scrapbooking to even tupperware.

Love My Wedding Favors

My wife and I remember well the process of picking “favors” for our wedding some 30 years ago now. At the time I never new what wedding favors were untill I saw what Leonie had picked out. So please allow me to explain the term “wedding favors” to those of you who were like me

A “favor” is a small gift for the wedding attendees. It’s an allegedly useful item that’s usually made of glass or metal. (Cheap plastic and light cardboard don’t seem special enough for most..) There is often a beautiful ribbon, or sometimes a candle involved in teh favor and it probably has some inscription to commemorate the event or at least a card on wedding stationery.

“Favor”, “A small gift given to a guest at a party”, is one of the definitions. To my way of thinking, you are not only obligated to your wedding guests on this day of days but you should see the giving of a wedding favor as a sign of you and your new husbands gratitude to your guests for sharing this most memorable day in both your lifes’.

Apparently there are some who see no point to the giving of wedding favors and have said it is done just to avoid embarrassing ourselves in front of the Pope or Martha Stewart or whoever else we invited. Unfortuneatly for these people, and I know they are out there, the thought of “giving” is not in their vocabulary. If showing some form of gratitude to your guests is a bad thing then why are they there for you and your new partner at all? Of the top of my head, I can’t think of any of my friends or family that would judge us by the quality of the wedding favors, but on the other hand they would appreciate the effort we put into showing our gratitude for them being witness to our most splendid of event.

A common theory already judged helpful from talking to my married friends is that you should agree on a price-per-favor that is within your wedding budget and it would be something that you would be happy to recieve for yourself at a friends wedding. As an idea on price you would really have to make up your own minds but in general terms anything from 20 dollars up would be acceptable. Truly the sky is the limit. I suppose it really has to do again with the wedding budget. Luckily there are a plethera of wedding favours to choose from on the market today so finding just the right one should be a snap.

Wedding Favors Ideas

Sending your guests home with a little something to remember the night by is a classy touch to any wedding. And they don’t have to be over priced gifts to make a lasting impression.

The choice really boils down to, “Do I buy my wedding favors or make them?

You are probably finding out that when it comes to the list of things to do for your wedding, you may already be feeling overwhelmed. So why make another chore for yourself with homemade wedding favors? Favors can be easily purchased then all you have to do is personalize them..

Of course, homemade wedding favors do feel more special. Sachets and small tokens are simple to create in an afternoon. You may even decide to enlist the help of the wedding party or make this a special time for you and your partner.

If you’ve ever been to another wedding, you may have already seen an asortment of wedding favors which may have included, small bags of candies or nuts decoratively done, small boxes of chocolate with a nice ribbon or card indicating the the couple and wedding date are very nice favors too.

Many couples have chosen to give personalized wedding favors mentioning the bride and groom like match books, candles with holders, champagne glasses, and even CDs can be inscribed with the wedding date as a way to commemorate the day.

If you want to be unique For the non-traditional bride and groom, you may want to give a little something different. If you have a themed wedding, you can try to give a gift that incorporates that theme.

In any case, as I mentioned earlier, the wedding favors are a great way to commemorate a special day for both the bride and groom and their guests. Thank your relatives and friends for supporting you and loving you enough to be with you on this happiest of days.

Wedding Favors not to Buy for your Wedding

By tgon1563 On September 23, 2008 No Comments
wedding favors
Wedding favors have become an important part of the wedding celebration. However, there are some wedding favors your guests will not appreciate receiving at your reception. Lets take a look.

1. Personalized Favors With The Couples Names. Dont get me wrong. Some personalized favors are nice BUT it depends how they are personalized. Wedding favors such as silver photo frames or bells, monogrammed candle favors, and coasters engraved with the happy couples names and dates will never be displayed in your guests home. Why would they? If you are set on personalized wedding favors, choose to personalize the tags or go with a smaller, less expensive personalized favor such as lip balm or note pads. That way you are sure your guests will use and appreciate your wedding favors.

2. Overtly Themed Wedding Favors. For example, did you decide to have an Asian themed wedding or an Irish themed wedding? Thats wonderful and there are many great ways to incorporate your theme into the wedding but leave the favors out of it. Choosing to provide your guests with a themed favor that they dont understand or does not complement their d?r ensures that the favor will go straight into the garbage can when they get home. Choose a more practical wedding favor such as a neutral candle that matches your color theme, a silver bottle stopper or luggage tag. These types of favors are not only practical but elegant as well.

3. Expensive Wedding Favors. Your dream is to have the wedding of the decade. Thats fantastic, but spend your money where it will matter the most to YOU not your guests. By all means provide your guests with a tasteful, elegant wedding favor but unless youre a celebrity, you dont need to spend $10 per favor to achieve that look. Silver wedding favors also look elegant as do wine bottle stoppers. If you are discriminating in your choice of favors, your goal will be achieved.

4. Cheap Wedding Favors. Spend some time looking for a wedding favor that is inexpensive but not cheap looking. Many brides make the mistake of having friends and family make their wedding favors for them. Often this task is rushed to be completed right before the wedding and they look it. There are many wedding favors under $1 or $2 that appear to cost more than they really do. A few great examples are heart cookie cutters, heart bath soaps in a gift box, or sachets.

You want your day to be perfect. Dont choose a wedding favor that will derail your whole plan. Take your time and choose a wedding favor that both you and your guests are sure to love.

Choosing Wedding Favors – the Top 7 Common Mistakes and How to Avoid Them

By tgon1563 On September 22, 2008 No Comments
wedding favors
Choosing and giving wedding favors is a fun tradition.  It’s a heartfelt way to demonstrate your appreciation to your guests.  And, of course, you want the perfect wedding favors for your perfect wedding. What could go wrong? Here are the top seven common wedding favor mistakes and tips to avoid them.

Mistake # 1 – Waiting too long to order.  You’re not a procrastinator.  It’s just that you’re not sure how many wedding favors to order.  So, you’re waiting for the RSVP’s to come in, so that you have a better idea of how many guests will be attending.  Then, you’ll place an order for the right number of favors.

But if you wait that long, you’ll have less options available.  Custom, personalized wedding favors can take time to create.  If you postpone ordering to almost the last minute, you may not have enough time to get just want you want.  You might have to settle for something else.

Mistake # 2 – Not getting the right amount.  So, how do you plan in advance and get the right number of wedding favors?  First, decide whether you want to give one favor to each of your guests, or one to each couple.  You’re probably safe in assuming that at least 80% of those on your guest list will be able to attend.  Then, make sure you have extras.

What happens if you have too many favors?  Well, that’s better than not having enough.  If you have favors left over after the wedding, you can always give them out or mail them to those who couldn’t attend.

Mistake # 3 – Spending too much money. Wedding favors are tokens of appreciation to your guests for sharing your special day.  They are not meant to be costly gifts.  You shouldn’t have to spend more than a couple of dollars for this gesture.  If you find great favors that are also economical, you won’t hesitate ordering extras.

Mistake # 4 – Buying favors that are not useful or functional.  There is such a wide variety of wedding favors on the market today, so you’re no longer limited to tulle covered dust collectors. Send your guest home with something they can use, such as personalized candles, chocolate bars, frames, magnets, bookmarks, packets of seeds or heart-shaped cookie cutters, to name just a few.

Mistake # 5 – Selecting favors that don’t reflect your personality.  If you’re shopping on the internet, there is an endless array of unique wedding favors available.  Why not choose something that highlights your hobbies, interests, or passions?  Go with a theme.  Some items, like personalized bookmarks, can contain a longer personal message, such as a favorite poem or quote.  Any item with your photo would make a great keepsake. Your favors don’t have to be bland and generic.

Mistake # 6 – Making your own favors.  This may not seem like a mistake until you’re sitting there one night, gluing a ribbon on the 83rd favor, thinking of all the other millions of things you have to do to get ready for your wedding.  Even if you enjoy crafts, making 100 or more of the same thing can be tedious and time consuming.  You may think you’re saving a lot of money by doing it yourself, but craft supplies can be expensive.  If you add it up, you might even pay less for professionally made favors, and you’ll have a lot more time on your hands.

Mistake # 7 – Not giving out favors at all.  No, it’s not absolutely necessary to have wedding favors.  But they are such a nice way to say a little “thank you” to your guests for sharing their love, support and friendship. They are not only a thoughtful addition to your reception, but will remind everyone of your wonderful wedding.

So, shop around and find the perfect wedding favors for you.  Select something that is decorative, functional and inexpensive.  Make sure it’s personalized to showcase you’re uniqueness as a couple.  Order well in advance.  And wait for your guests to tell you that it’s the best wedding favor they have ever received.
